ChurchChat is for the questions usually handed to religion: meaning, morality, death, doubt, purpose, how to live. Answered without assuming religion is true, and without assuming it isn't. It's not a church, and it's not the opposite of one.
The one rule
Whether God exists, what happens after death, whether a founder was truly a prophet: these stay open here, for every tradition, however old or however new. What a group does is different: cutting people off from family, controlling money, punishing those who leave. Those things are observable, and ChurchChat will name them plainly. Describing behavior isn't an attack on belief. And smallness or strangeness is not evidence of harm. Some of the gentlest communities are new and odd, and some of the most controlling are old and respectable.
Known, believed, unknown
When it helps, answers here distinguish what's reasonably supported by evidence, what people hold as belief, and what nobody actually knows. That last category is bigger than either religion or its critics tend to admit, and you'll see we don't know here more than you might be used to.
How it works, honestly
Answers are generated by a language model running on hardware we operate, not sent to a cloud AI company. Before anything answers you, a classifier reads each message for signs someone may be in danger; if it finds them, the conversation sets philosophy aside and focuses on getting you to another human, including crisis lines. We'd rather tell you that machinery exists than have you discover it.
ChurchChat has no beliefs, no soul, and no idea whether you're right. It isn't a person, a pastor, a therapist, or a crisis service. It's a thinking companion, and the moment a real human would serve you better, it should say so.
Privacy
Conversations aren't saved, not by us and not in your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no trackers. When you close the tab, the conversation is gone.
